About Trenches

In WWI, trenches began being used around September of 1914. Trenches were common throughout the western front of Europe. Soldiers would use firing, saps, and communication trenches. Firing trenches were used to throw grenades and fire machine guns. Communication trenches were used to talk to other trenches to give them commands. Saps were shallower positions that went into no mans land and were also used as observation posts. Watch this video to learn more about trenches in WWI.
